More Music! "All Too Well"
Alright, so the fact that I'm posting a song by this artist might surprise/enrage/upset/confuse you, but I swear, it really is a good song, so just try to give it a shot. (Don't judge it until you've given it a good listen or two! It actually took me quite a few tries to really appreciate it, but once I did, I really did.)
I highly recommend that you queue it up on your car stereo, find yourself a nice country road, roll down your windows, turn the volume up loud, hit play, and just drive.
Seriously. Do it!
There is no other way to listen to this song! You really get a chance to focus on the lyrics and overall composition, and it turns this tune from a song into an experience (Which is the best part about it)!
One of my favorite parts of the song starts around 0:48. I think the lyrics here are quite poetic, and I really love the way Taylor references the autumn leaves falling down. It creates a beautiful image in my mind every time. It also makes the song absolutely perfect for driving around New England and New York, relaxing and doing some leaf-peeping!
"Oh, your sweet disposition, and my wide eyed gaze. We're singing in the car, getting lost upstate.
Autumn leaves falling down like pieces into place, and I can picture it after all these days."
I also really like the part around 2:55 where things get serious!
"And maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much...This thing was a masterpiece, til you tore it all up..."
The country twang in Taylor's voice at this part is just undeniable.
I'm also a little obsessed with the part around 3:20 where she really breaks things down:
"Well, you called me up again just to break me like a promise, so casually cruel in the name of being honest. I'm a crumpled up piece of paper lying here, 'cause I remember it all, all, all too well..."
She sings this part with so much heart, and the words flow perfectly together...
You might be questioning my judgement at this point, and that's okay...Not everyone has the same musical taste as me. But I really hope you give this song a chance. It is one of my favorites from Taylor's last album, Red, and I think it might impress you too! Just remember to listen to it the way I suggested, because watching a lyric video on Youtube just doesn't do it justice.
Without further ado, I present to you:
